There are panels of sun all the way down the long room. I begin to sing, some sort of song from afar. The dogs start to sing. I lean into the song, touching the sound with my hands/fingertips. It feels good to sing.
When the song ends, I move into the space. When I reach the other side, (the west side where I am closest geographically to you two), curving arms, tilted head, crunched toes, and arched back. Eventually I go to the floor and crawl awkwardly, lie down on my back in CRP and realize that I am opening to witnessing you two.
I “go back in” by rolling over, rewinding the crawling and rising to a stand. I close my eyes and enter a territory of slashing arms and legs, angular motions accompanied by whispered gibberish. I experiment with the sound coming out similar, opposite, distant and unattached to the movement – always a fun challenge that makes me chuckle. I feel stable in my blind balances.

I wake up after a very active morning of dreams. I love dreaming, entering that world of lucid dreaming where one is an observer and/or participant, then they two merge into one. Much like my experience of improvisation…energy from the dream for my improvisation this morning. I immediately start shaking the energy, jiggling, swaying, and swinging the energy around play with looking behind myself, I go to the ground and introduce myself to gravity, to yield.
I put on music and give myself my old warm-up. Oh, how the body quickly starts talking in the language that is oh so familiar to me….swooping arm movements …starfish images play in my mind and I connect and feel somewhat reconnected.

Unusually warm this morning, so off I am outside to explore mindful walking. I bring awareness to my psoas and trace its origin and point of insertion into the lesser trocantor. I sense the movement as easy and free flowing, my legs hanging from “suspenders” attached to my spine. This awareness trickles up my spine…my chin is lifted which diminishes the length of my cervical spine. I start to map my body as it moves through space and time.
I slow down, I speed up, I life my arms, I move in half circles, lead with different parts of my body. Which comes first in walking, the push of the foot or the reach of the arm?; ground first, push, reach, pull back into self. I have fun! I am free to move with my desire. I am grateful for this. Very grateful.

I am happy to say that all went well: nothing was forced, one movement followed the other easily and if it did not I just waited quietly until I felt like moving again. At one point, I found myself doing Penny’s “belly dance”! I must explain Sara. Penny is my little Pug dog. At moments of great happiness she propels herself across the floor on her belly, back legs flat out in back head thrown back and turning side to side with lips parted in what looks like a doggie smile. My version was not nearly as good but I did my best. Small motions led to big ones and back to small ones. I felt carried on a burst of my own.
